Box Drum (Cajon)
This was a project I did for one of my best friends. He is an aspiring musician and sound technician. These boxes were built out of Butternut and Quarter Sawn American Sycamore. Both boxes were fitted with an adjustable snare that can be turned to press against the face of the drum or press to a belt to silence the snare. These boxes are joined by dato joints on all sides except the face. The face is attached to the box with strategically placed screws that are adjustable. If tightened or loosened the tone of the drum changes. These drums were built to be the perfect size to sit on and also a great travel size. These drums included multiple glue-ups and many pieces that needed to be precise for it to fit together.
